You only have to shoot one scene, but you have to capture at least nine (9) different poses/positions of your subject so you have poses to work with.

Your final composite image must include at least six (6) different poses/positions of your subject. You can always include more! 

Think about your Multiplicity sequence and plan how you want to capture all of the different poses, actions and expressions that your “subjects” will be doing in the final image composite. What is the overall theme, activity, concept, or story? Who is the subject? Is your subject going to be in different clothes for each different pose? Do you need any props?

Choose a location to shoot your photographs in. Working with a model, take a series of photographs where the model moves to a different spot with the location for each shot. It is really important that you use a tripod and that your camera does not move between each shot. As you shoot your photos, consider how you might combine moving figures with still figures using slow and fast shutter speeds.

Decide how the movement you choose, and the juxtaposition between movement and stillness, might add an additional layer of interest to your image.

Use a tripod, so that your camera position does not change when you are making your capture sequence. It will save you a lot of time and frustration when you combine the all of the captured elements in Photoshop.

Shoot in Manual Mode, so that all of your exposures match. It will make everything much easier when you combine your images.

Click OPEN

Open Photoshop (do NOT open anything)

Click on the File Tab (at the top)

Select Scripts>Load Files Into Stack

Click Browse and locate the photos you want to use (on your Desktop in your MULTIPLICITY folder). 

While holding down the CTRL key select files, click Open.

Select the Auto Align box

Click OK to import the photos into a single layered file.

Use the Eye button in Layers to work out which image is which – the eye turns layer on / off

Drag and drop to arrange layers into the order

Click to the top layer

Click the Layer Mask Icon at base of Layers panel (this creates a blank Layer Mask)

TIP: Make sure BLACK is the foreground color and that you have the MASK selected!

Turn the top layer off and select the next layer...

Repeat the above process on the next layer down.

Keep repeating, except on bottom layer.

Turn off your background image to see how your figures look

• Use a white / black paintbrush to touch up Layer Masks where needed – make sure you select the Layer and Mask first

Adjust such things as:

• Brightness/Contrast

• Exposure

• Vibrance

• Hue/Saturation

• Color Balance

• Black & White

Make Adjustments as needed! (And they are needed!)

Remember to make sure Content-Aware is selected AND Sample All Layers is checked!

Remember on the mask of an adjustment layer (make sure it is selected), we can add black to conseal what we are adjusting!
